I must say for the North West this has been one of the nicest winters I have ever experienced. We are a little short on snow and it’s not been a good ski season but wow it’s hard to complain about the warm days and sunny skies.
We have received a normal amount of rain fall; The Rogue actually had a serious flood reaching 108,000cfs. If you have been to the Paradise Lodge this flood is about 4th highest mark on the walk up to the lodge.
There is a lot of fear about low water this summer and it’s understandable. The Army Corp. of Engineers started to fill reservoirs early this year, they are confident that they will fill all of Oregon reservoirs on rain fall, which is normal. Interestingly enough, last year we had perfect water flows on the Rogue both our summer and Fall River trips, with below average rain fall and an 18% snow pack. I’m confident that we will have plenty of water this year for great rafting and fishing, with normal rain fall this year and at this time a 30% snow pack. Don’t let the news scare you away from having a great time on the river this summer.
We still have great dates available for our 3 and 4 day Wilderness Rogue River Raft Trips. These maybe the most fun carefree and relaxing trips we offer. Cater the trip to yourself, camp or lodge or do a combination of both, it’s our trip!
We also have prime spring and summer dates available to fly fish for Native Rainbow Trout on both The Deschutes and Grande Ronde Rivers.
Tina and I hope to share a river trip with you this summer. For dates or if you have any questions please call Tina 1-888-767-3144 or email us.
