Tina and I were able to do a trip down the Rogue River with my youngest daughter Mandy and her other half Mike. Also along for the ride where our Labs Lexi and Sprig. We had the time of our lives… It was only the second time Tina and I have been able to do a fun trip together this time of year.
We hit great weather with high 90’s each day and the water felt incredible! Other than the amazing beauty of the Rogue, I noticed the water quality. The Rogue had about 4″ of visibility which is great. If you remember two small dams had been removed in the past 2 years, these dams grew non toxic algae discoloring the Rogue, this is common in many rivers but NO LONGER in the Rogue River, its beautiful and should be good for our fishing season as well.
The dams held back the gravel and sand for years, now with the dams gone we saw a lot more shallow gravel and sand bars. This will be good for fishing and sand bars on the shore line made for great camping.
Our Rogue Rafting trip was great and everything I saw was so healthy for the Rogue River. We have abused so many of our rivers and water way, it is such a relief to see good things happen and see the positive changes that occur so quickly. 🙂
