What a March so far. Rain, rain, rain. It’s the 18th of March and my coastal rivers that I fish have only been fish-able two days. On the 16th we ventured to the Columbia River for our first Spring Chinook trip. The fishing reports had been decent and my guests had cabin fever as bad as I did. The day we arrived the grumble on the river was they were releasing extra water out of Bonneville Dam and that it shut the bit off, not what you want to hear on your first day.
We fished till noon without seeing a fish caught, coming up on the tide which was about noon, we saw the first net out as it turned out it was not a great day but a very worthwhile trip. We saw 5 springers boated and were fortunate enough that we caught two 20 pound hatchery springers. It looks like mother nature is going to give us a bit of a break so I will be back steelhead fishing the rest of this week, then its springers through May.
Due to a recent cancellation we now have a few springer dates available, don’t miss this chance to catch the king of king’s and spend a beautiful spring day on the water. Springer Fishing Oregon 2011, Let’s go fishing!
