Jackson County and the contractors for the Gold Ray Dam project report that in water work for dam removal is complete, and turbidity has decreased as a result.
This news is great for our last few trips down the Rogue. Although this has been a terrific fishing season the Rogue River turbidity had a effect! We think next years fishing season through the Rogue Canyon should be outstanding. The Gold Ray Damn was the last of the damns to be removed on the Rogue, so next years water should be perfect for the Rogue Fishery. We know that in the long run these removals of the damns will help the Rogue fish habitat, and allow the river to flourish. So here’s to the Rogue in 2011! Dates are posted now for the 2011 Rogue River Canyon Fishing Season.
Some changes have been made to the Rogue River Outfitters website. If you have not visited lately, you might take a look. We have had great response for our 2011 Winter Steelhead season. If you have not booked yet for 2011 you should take a look at the calendars on the website, Jan 2011, Feb 2011 and March 2011. Our 2011 Chinook Salmon season is also booking up fast. We usually start our Salmon season some time in March, not knowing just when the big fish will arrive makes it tough to say what those dates in March might be. Later in March and all of April 2011 is for certain. Dates are already limited, we would recommend booking as soon as possible.
Looking forward to 2011, wow its hard to believe! 🙂
