We did not have a Rogue canyon trip this week, it’s too bad the river is prime and the weather is awesome!
Fishing in the Rogue Bay is slowing down due to a strong north wind, the bar is rough and this seems to be keeping fish from coming in, once the bar lays down there should be one more shot of salmon and steelhead.
I fished the past two days at Grants Pass and steelhead fishing was good. We caught 1-7 lb Adult Steelhead and 30 or so half pounders our first day out.
The next day caught a 4 lb, 6lb and another 6lb Adult Steelhead with 20 plus half pounders as well, we also lost 4 other Adults. Day one was good day two was great!
The river is in great shape and fishing should remain good through November. This is good news for steelheaders.
This is one of my favorite times on the Rogue. Not much preasure from other fisherman, and soon the colors will be coming out. Fall, Catching a Steelhead on the Rogue River. Well it just doesn’t get any better!
