What year it has been for steelhead fishing in Oregon. We have been as busy as ever, fishing a few of the Coastal Streams.
Even on the Williamette Steelhead passage is above the 10-year average. Through Feb. 21, 2,710 steelhead had crossed the falls, with daily crossings the past week ranging from 15 to 65 fish.
The first winter steelhead has made it to Foster Dam on the South Santiam. Water levels on the South Santiam are fairly low and visibility is generally good. Rain expected for this week should bring up flows and push some new fish into the system.
One of our favorite local river has new regulation, restricting angling to artificial flies and lures in the Little North Fork Santiam is in effect year round.
We are still looking forward to the Spring Salmon Season. But the way this winter steelhead season is going, it will go down as one of the best years I remember.
Still a few openings for Spring Salmon Fishing, Give us a call and lets go Fishing!
