I have a month of winter steelhead fishing left before I begin my spring salmon season but I have to say that I am becoming very anxious. Everyday I am receiving reports of people catching Springers in the Willamette and the Columbia. Just hearing these reports makes me want to be there.
I also received some bad news, a long time family friend Terry Bain passed away last week. Terry and my father ( Denny Hughson) guided together in the late 60’s and 70’s. Terry lived on Sauvies Island and was one of the people I spoke to everyday during Salmon season, he was always one of the first to have his boat in the water and would help others who would show up to launch. He will be greatly missed.
